The SADC Seed Centre is a proud partner of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United States Government’s Presidential Feed the Future and Trade Africa initiatives.
USAID’s Southern Africa Seed Trade Project works closely with the SADC Seed Centre to improve the availability of and access to high-quality seed in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries. The Project is designed to support the SADC Secretariat and national governments within the SADC region by providing the necessary technical assistance to harmonize policies and regulations governing seed trade among Member States. The work facilitates seed trade across the region by integrating small and isolated national seed markets into one larger SADC-wide market trading high-quality seeds. This, in turn, increases agricultural productivity and profitability and subsequent food and nutrition security.
