The SADC Seed Variety Catalogue is a list of all seed varieties that are approved for trade in any of the 16 SADC markets. Varieties include maize, cotton, wheat, groundnuts, beans, Irish potatoes, sorghum and soybeans.
When improved, high-quality seed is registered on the regional catalogue, it benefits national governments, seed companies and farmers.
Seed variety holders can now apply for regional release with NSAs in TWO SADC nations and, if approved, can gain access to all 16 SADC markets.
